Avara Board Announces Changes to Executive Team
The Board of Directors of Avara Pharmaceutical Services is pleased to announce that Joe Principe has joined the organization as Chief Executive Officer. In addition, Anup Gupta has joined as Chief Financial Officer and Larry Lee, who has served as CEO since November of 2019, will be transitioning to a new role as Chief Operations Officer.
As Chief Executive Officer, Joe will be responsible for all aspects of executive management of Avara’s global business. Prior to joining Avara, he was the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Patheon Pharmaceuticals. Joe is a proven leader in the pharmaceutical industry who brings more than 20 years of wide-ranging experience in marketing, financial analysis, and negotiation to the Avara organization. This, combined with his deep knowledge of strategic development and ability to manage business development on a global scale, makes him an exciting addition to the Avara Executive Team.
As Chief Financial Officer, Anup is responsible for maintaining the financial strength of Avara, working to identify finance projects that promote sustainability and growth. Anup comes to Avara with over 30 years of global experience in finance, strategy, M&A, and operations. He is a recognized leader with an international and entrepreneurial outlook and strong ability to lead large and diverse teams. Anup has previously held C-Suite roles including Chief Financial Officer and Chief Strategy Offer, in both public and private companies making him well-suited to take over the CFO position.
As Chief Operations Officer, Larry will be responsible for managing all aspects of the operational and administrative functions for the Avara Organization. Over the course of his career, Larry has held a wide variety of management positions in laboratories, quality assurance, and information technologies, and has been heavily involved in leading global initiatives for multiple pharmaceutical companies, including Avara. With his strong focus on operational excellence and his skill at leading complex teams across multiple aspects of manufacturing technologies, Larry is well positioned for the COO role.
